12 Secrets of Being Happy

by Leisa on January 23, 2012

Years ago I read a book titled “Stumbling on Happiness” by Daniel Gilbert and was fascinated to read that twelve months after either having an accident which left you as a paraplegic, or twelve months after winning the lottery, people rated their feelings of happiness at about the same level. Which just goes to show that happiness is not a result of external influences, but a state that we create within ourselves.

A new book has recently been released – “The World Book of Happiness” by Leo Bormans, which brings together research from the world’s leading experts on the psychology of happiness. There were twelve main points that came out of the research, and these points are summarised in an article about the book, that you can read here:

The 12 Secrets of Being Happy:

  • Accept what you have
  • Enjoy what you do
  • Live for today
  • Choose happiness
  • Relationships
  • Stay busy
  • Don’t compare
  • Be yourself
  • Stop worrying
  • Get organised
  • Think positive
  • Value happiness

How do you create happiness in your own life every day?

Absolutely Cass, very true – we all need to take note of where we are filling ourselves up with material objects instead of finding happiness in other ways 🙂
